What is so special about our service? Shrinking the feedback loop of [design > costing > manufacture]. We are the middle bit and orchestrate the last bit.
First, we take your design file (and some manual input from you). This gives us the part geometry, type of material, tolerances required, and how soon you need it completed by.
Next, we determine the amount of machine capacity we think it will take to process your part. It can be very complex to decompose a 3-D part down to a process list, and then determine the amount of time per process. So for now, we are focusing on 2-D parts (waterjet, laser cut, or any process with a simple way to model cost drivers). We will always be working on improving the scope of parts we can process.
Finally, after we get a process list and time required to produce the part, we look through the Quoto manufacturing network for manufacturers that have enough capacity to complete the various processes of the part before your deadline. Once we select the shop(s), we can apply their rates to the times we found in the previous step. With all of this information, we can return a quote to you based on our current network capacity.
Due to the fact that our network capacity fluctuates rapidly based on quotes that get converted to orders, our service is unique in that our quotes are valid for a very narrow time frame. Usually only 24-48 hours.
Once you place the order, there is nothing to do but wait for it to arrive!
